Vishay’s New WSMS5515 Power Metal Strip® Meter Shunt Resistor Offers 3-W Power Capability With Low Resistance Values of 500 µΩ to 100 µΩ

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. introduced a new Power Metal Strip® meter shunt resistor that offers 3-W power capability in the 5515 size package, with extremely low resistance values down to 100 µΩ.
The WSMS5515 meter shunt resistor features a proprietary processing technique that produces very low resistance values from 100 µΩ to 500 µΩ, which provide increased accuracy in current meter shunt applications for industrial and residential electronic power meters.
The new resistor increases accuracy to help designers meet specific customer requirements and thus provide end users with more accurate metering of electric usage.
Featuring a 4-terminal (Kelvin) connection design, the WSMS5515 features all-welded construction and a high power-to-resistor size ratio.

Tyco Electronics’ New 2.3A Polyzen™ Devices Help Protect Automotive Infotainment Peripherals

Tyco Electronics introduced the addition of two new devices to its popular line of PolyZen™ polymer enhanced, precision Zener diode micro-assemblies. The new devices feature a higher hold current (2.3A) and are designed to help protect circuits in global positioning systems (GPS), smart phones, game consoles, portable media players (PMPs) and other video-based peripherals that can be charged in the car.

The PolyZen micro-assembly incorporates a stable Zener diode for precise voltage clamping and a resistively non-linear, polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) layer that responds to either diode heating or overcurrent events by transitioning from a low to high resistance state.
