Total reported sales for all relay types in North America for the third quarter of 2013 were 7% lower than the previous quarter and 11% below the same quarter of 2012. Sales units for Q3 also came in 7% below Q2 and 11% less than Q3 of 2012.

The total booking dollars reported for all relay types in North America for Q3 were less than the previous quarter by 19% and down from Q2 2012’s total bookings by 4%. The third quarter’s book-to-bill ratio for dollars was 0.856. Booking units in Q3 2013 ran 15% below Q2. The third quarter’s book-to-bill ratio for units was .912.

In the third quarter of 2013 sales were down in dollars and units for EMR’s and SSR’s with EMR ASP’s up slightly compared to Q1. In total dollars and units decreased 7% while the ASP was nearly unchanged. Comparisons to the same quarter last year show both units and dollars down for EMR and mixed results for SSR. In total dollars and units fell 11% with ASP nearly unchanged. Year to date dollars and units are also down for both EMR and SSR types. Total dollars are lower by 9% and units down 7%. The ASP was down for EMR, up slightly for SSR, and down 2% in total.

Bookings moved lower in Q3 compared to Q2 for all measures. In total booking dollars fell 19% and units moved down 15% with a 5% ABP decrease. The comparison to Q3 of 2012 shows dollars and units down for EMR’s and up slightly for SSR. All in, dollars dropped 22% with units lower by 18%. The ABP for EMR’s fell 11% while SSR’s moved down 1% and total lost 5%. This year compared to last has dollars down and units up for both types. Total booking dollars are 4% less and units up 11%. The ABP is down for both types and by almost 14% in total.

The graph below shows total quarterly indexed sales and bookings in dollars and units for the reported data. Sales dollars and units were relatively flat the first three quarters of 2012, fell in the last quarter, held unchanged in Q1 of this year, rose in Q2, and fell in Q3. In the first three quarters of 2012 booking dollars and units rose then fell in Q4, recovered in Q1 of 2013, and fell off in Q2 and Q3.

The overall indexed selling prices have moved lower by 8% between Q1 of 2012 and 2013 then recovered in Q2 and held steady last quarter. Booking prices have decreased about 25% since Q1 of 2012.

Book-to-bill dollars and units trended up from Q1 of 2012 to Q1 of this year and moved down the next two quarters. The ratio of average booking to selling prices has general moved lower and but remained at or above 1.0 until Q2 of this year.
