Panasonic PhotoMOS® relays have a galvanic separation between LED input and MOSFET output circuit. In Smart Meters, for example, AQY216EH is used to realize potential-free pulse contacts. Next to general features like fast, quiet and bounce-free switching with a nearly unlimited life time, AQY216EH provides a very high I/O isolation voltage of 5,000V and a high load voltage of 600V, suitable for both AC and DC. Compared to old fashioned solutions that use separate MOSFET in addition to a driver, PhotoMOS® combines both in one small DIP4 package - and therefore saves space on your PCB.
